【摘要】:Laboratoryhidingpowermeasurementsofarchitecturalcoatingsgenerallyemployblade-typeapplicatorsthatlaydownfilmsofhighlyuniformthickness.Butpracticalapplicators,suchasrollers,pads,andbrushes,typicallyapplyfilmsthatlackuniformityduetoincompleteleveling,resultinginthepracticalhidingpowerofmostpaintsbeinglessthanthatmeasuredonfilmsappliedwithadrawdownblade.Thistestmethodsimulatespracticalapplicationproceduresandconditionssoastoprovideanindicationoftheactualhidingperformanceobtainablewhenapaintisappliedbyanexperiencedworker.Itisnotintendedtoduplicatepaintingasdonebytheaverageconsumer.Sincetherheologicalcharacteristicsofapaintanditsinteractionwiththeapplicatorareinfluencingfactors,rankordercorrelationbetweenthistestandonedonebydrawdownmightnotbeobtained.1.1Thistestmethodmeasurestheabilityofapainttohideorobscureasurfacetowhichithasbeenappliedbyapracticalapplicationprocedure.Thistestmethodcoverstheuseofapaintroller,buttheconceptisexpectedtoworkequallywellwhentheapplicationtoolisapaintbrushorpaintpad.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
